Green Crackled Polymer Clay Pot

Green Crackled Polymer Clay Pot

This fancy little vessel is made from polymer clay over a wooden lidded pot. The lid is covered with a base of black clay and a disc of crackle-finished clay in cobalt blue, green, and lavender. I embellished the lid with a ring of hand-colored dots in the same cobalt blue. The center of the lid features a brass bead cap ringed with bright green teardrops. I created the finial to resemble wood turning and is reinforced with wire.

The body of the pot is decorated with a sheet of clay crackled with the same colors as the lid. I then embellished the pot with discs I made with a button mold and hand-colored. These are topped with graduated hand-colored dots of clay. Small drops of Swarovski crystals dangle playfully from the molded discs. Button feet give the pot attitude and personality. The interior of the pot is painted with black acrylic paint.
