Closing SALE!

After 30 years of making and selling my work, I have decided to retire. Over the next few weeks I will be marking all pieces down for sale, many as far as 50% off! As usual, if you have questions or problems ordering, please contact me and I will do my best to help.

A note about postage: The shipping costs shown on the listings are an approximation. I will only charge you actual postage costs and will refund you any overages you pay at checkout.

Studio Mojo

Once a month, I try to teach myself a new technique or medium. This helps me keep things fresh, and myself excited about going to the studio. Last month, I bought some Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paints to explore for cabochon embellishment. I. Am. In. Love. The paints really are magic! The pigments, suspended in a solvent base, naturally separate and move across whatever surface you put them on. The results are unpredicable, yet always interesting.

I had some less-than-lovely polymer clay pieces left from a previous studio session. Rather than ditch them, I used the Prisme paints on them. The end result was a gorgeous set of 5 in graduated sizes. At first, my plan was to make a few beaded pendants and a set of earrings, but when I saw them laying next to each other, it was clear they wanted to be used together in a statement piece. Who was I to argue?

So far, I'm happy with how it's coming along...

It will be interesting to see the components finished. That will tell me how they need to connect and what kind of neck strap this piece wants.

Stay tuned!

how to shine?

awesome colors, and so natural looking.

how do you make them so shiny?

How to shine?

Thanks for asking! I used 3-D Crystal Lacquer from Sakura. It goes on cloudy, then cures clear and shiny after 24-48 hours. Be sure to cover the pieces with an inverted bowl to keep dust from settling on the uncured resin. Here's the link for the product:

This is so fab, Kate! I am

Happy New Year,

Very Interesting

I like the way you used something that didn't quite work the way you wanted it to before, and turned them into something beautiful. Just because something's not perfect the way it is now, doesn't mean it can't be made perfect when looking at it differently. It's an interesting lesson to be learned.

I was very pleased to find this website. I wanted to thank you for your time for this wonderful post!! I definitely enjoy reading it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff.
