Hearts and More Hearts

The last batch of heart pendants is nearly completed! The clay pieces have been painted, silkscreened, foiled, baked, and a coat of resin applied for depth and protection. I'll be adding the crystal drops and the finishing touches this weekend. They should be listed by Tuesday or Weds next week at the latest, so stay tuned...

Valentine's Day

I dusted off my college screen-printing skills last week to make some lovely polymer clay veneers for pendants.  Hearts are a nice, small, area for practicing, and have such an  appealing shape, don't you think? Thanks to a video tutorial by Alison Merrit, I have some new products to add, as well: foil shimmer flakes make a glorious surface, and Interference Paints add a deep, rich color to a veneer's background.

Evolution of New Work

2017 turned out to be a terrible year. My mother died suddenly and unexpectedly, which threw me for a loop. This caused me to re-evaluate the work I've been doing: do I love making it, and if not, why? Do my customers love it? The answers I came up with are that I do love creating the intricate beadwork, but lately it has felt too much like work. As well, my customers at shows admire the sparkly beaded work, but tend to choose smaller, less blingly pieces for themselves. So, I will keep the beadwork as inspirational and occasional projects.

Studio Mojo

Once a month, I try to teach myself a new technique or medium. This helps me keep things fresh, and myself excited about going to the studio. Last month, I bought some Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paints to explore for cabochon embellishment. I. Am. In. Love. The paints really are magic!

Shop Updates

A new webstore deserves fresh photographs. Today's mission: all work gets a digital glamour shot. Time to dig out the light tent and lights and get to work.

Sweet and Simple

Today is the day I finish up half-done work leftover from last year. These sweet and simple polymer clay pendants don't need much embellishment. A few crystals, some bead caps and some gold-plated wire combine to make a lovely piece of jewelry. Affordable too, at $29.00!

A New Year, A New Webstore

Welcome!

I'm sweeping out the old year, and ushering in the New with this new web location. How nice, to have shop and blog in one easy-access location.

Stay tuned for new work, class announcements, and images I find inspiring. In the meantime, my worktable is ready and waiting for me to get to work!
